LexisNexis Legal Professional, a leading provider of content and technology solutions, announced today the LexisNexis Firm Manager online practice management software, earned first place in National Law Journal’s “Best of 2015” products in the category of “Docketing Calendaring Software”.
“The National Law Journal’s ‘Best of 2015’ award is unique because it provides a window into the voice of the market,” said Susan Harman, vice president and product champion for the Firm Manager team. “The award is based solely on reader votes – those attorneys and legal professionals in the trenches growing and managing a small law firm on a day-to-day basis.”
Over the course of the last year, the Firm Manager product has steadily earned accolades from the reviewer and analyst community alike. For example, the industry newsletter TechnoLawyer publication assessed the product a “TechnoScore” of “A” based on the conventional letter grading system in a published review. The online publication Attorney at Work, which is geared for small law firms, said in a Firm Manager review the product “shines.” The Lawyerist blog, which publishes advice for small- and solo-law firms noted, “Firm Manager is one of the few cloud-based practice management software packages to include a conflict-checking feature.”
The Firm Manager product is also the only online practice management tool with the “Money Finder” feature that automatically searches and sorts through tasks, meetings and documents created in the Firm Manager application and flagging those that have not been associated with a client bill for review.
“It [Money Finder] is a passive time capture capability that tracks attorneys’ tasks as they complete their work within the Firm Manager platform,” wrote David Houlihan, Esq., a principle analyst with Blue Hill Research. “It then alerts the attorney of potentially billable work, even if the attorney forgets to set his or her timer. It is a relatively minor feature but has the potential to be extremely valuable.”
The Firm Manager team has consistently released a continuous stream of enhancements and new features over the course of the last twelve months. The updates have included integration with commonly used calendar systems among attorneys in small law firms and have been especially responsive to market requests and demands.
A study conducted last year demonstrated that law firms are increasingly warming up to cloud solutions, with 72% of attorneys indicating they were more likely to use such tools. Attorneys responding to the survey cited “mobility or freedom of access” and “disaster recovery/data backup” as the driving factors in moving toward cloud tools.
“We are driven to develop the easiest practice management solution on the market – one that works how attorneys expect it to work,” added Harman. “Firm Manager is fast, secure and has all the tools an attorney needs to effectively manage a small practice – and it’s backed by a company with a long history in serving the legal community. We view this award as validation we are moving our product in the right direction.”
